Mother's Day Luncheon

Hello again friends! Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day last weekend.  Here's a look at how I spent mine.
Due to the fact that our backyard patio area wasn't set up yet as we were in the process of cutting down a tree there, I was unable to hold my Mother's Day Luncheon outdoors.  As such, I tried to make the dining room feel spring-like and we ate indoors.

I created a centerpiece using a long rectangular basket filled with Dollar Store green "grassy" orbs, faux lilacs, some metal butterflies and a purple pillar candle on a martini glass tucked inside the grass orbs.

A glass vase with a pillar candle was placed on each side of the basket-centerpiece.

An aerial view

The butterfly theme was extended to the stemware which have little butterflies etched in the glass. We enjoyed Pink Fizz cocktails in these. (recipe here)

Placecards were displayed in mini take-home bouquets for each guest.

The little vases are actually spice jars tied with ribbon.

I used my aqua-coloured dishes (HomeSense) with white salad plates and chargers.

These little birdie napkin rings also add a spring touch to the table.

The tablecloth is special to me as it was my Grandma's who passed away one year ago this Mother's Day.

Some different angles...

I kept the menu pretty simple with items I've made many times before.

While I didn't manage to get any pics of the main course items, I did get some of the desserts which I'll show you in my next blog post.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my Mother's Day Luncheon tablescape.

Please stop back soon to see how I set up the sideboard for this luncheon. (Click HERE to see).

  3. Who needed the bugs and skirt-ruffling wind gusts of the outdoors when you are able to create such an indoor oasis??? Wow! You did a marvelous job! Adding the individual bouquets to each place setting was a really great touch. Spice jars, huh? I'll have to stop buying the kind in the tins so I can have double-duty containers!

Your centerpiece is really pretty. I didn't know you could find those green, grassy orbs at the dollar store! I'll have to check that out.

    The stemware...gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!
